Its nearly the end of april so we look again to the school needs of the children in our care , may is the month of our biggest campaign of the year, - uniforms, books, bags and school/ college fees. Geetha will be needing a sponsor for the second year of her nursing course at Nazereth college , which will cost £100, she will be joined by her younger sister Jeya, and Deepa (in orange, second pic) hopes to study there too. There is a high demand for places, would anyone like to sponsor one of these beautiful young Christian girls? We are also looking for some of our friends to hold a fundraising event (possibilities are endless , - a sponsored run, sponsored weight loss, coffee morning, carboot sale, curry night . . . !! . . ) for the children's school needs. See our donations page . .

Today sees the completion of the foundations for our own church at Prayer Mount. As with all other building work, we have invited friends to give bible verses to be inserted into the bricks of the foundations. It is not too late, if the Lord is prompting you to send something, we look forward to hearing from you!

Another year, new challenges, another opportunity to give thanks. Against all the odds, the children all received new clothes on Christmas Day, and enjoyed mutton biriyani after church. On the second sunday of december, the children performed a Nativity for local people and relatives at the Widows Meal. It was wonderful. John played Silent Night and Joy To The World on our new keyboard, fundraised by The Clothing Swap evening. The only shadows over the day were John's mum has fallen and broken her hip, and the staff are beginning to fear the worst regarding Mrs Pushpam. It's a credit to the great faith and hard work of the remaining staff that everything has carried on , bringing a lot of joy to the children. As we stand at the door of 2017, our greatest hope is for the construction of our own Prayer Mount church this year. We believe for it and we shall pray and pray that it will become a reality, and in time bring the hope of Jesus to many others. . He is our light. He is our king.

For the first time this year, we have created Giftcards for £10, £20 , £30 and £50 which could help to completely change the life of and feed a poor family in South India. £10 would purchase enough seeds and fruit / vegetable plants to feed a whole family for a year. £20 would purchase 4 chickens which would lay eggs to feed the children, £30 would purchase 3 ducks which lay very big nutritious eggs. £50 would purchase a goat. We also have our Prayer Mount calendars as usual , which cost £5 including postage. email Jean at [email protected], we look forward to hearing from you!

We have written before about how amazing Mrs Pushpam has been in caring for our children. So they are very sad today to hear that she has left. She courageously left her violent drunk husband many years ago and her home was at Prayer Mount with the children. They love her. And it is mainly through her gentle witness that most have given their lives to Jesus. She suddenly anounced 10 days ago that she wanted to visit him, (her husband). The other staff were shocked and tried to dissuade her, but she went. Now it seems she is not coming back. I am returning to India in 12 days time, and it is not the first time I have returned to a crisis situation. Mrs P was our manager, and to the children she was like a grandmother. Thank God the children are looking forward to their Sports Day which we hope will be funded by our Curry Night. Your prayers would be appreciated.

The staff and children had a lovely summer holiday trip this year, to Thotto Palam, "the falls" and an ancient palace. A day of joy and wonder not just for the children, but for the staff and Johns family too. . .
